producer

Taxi Rank/Rho Thomas (they/it) is a theatre producer, specialising in dance, music, cabaret and multidisciplinary arts, or anything else for black box theatre, entertainment venues, studio and site specific spaces.

Taxi/Rho is vastly experienced having produced shows for higher education and as a freelancer since 2015. It is particularly adept at producing contemporary dance. Taxi is passionate about cross-arts, multidisciplinary performance and combining live sound and movement on stage. It promotes trans and non-binary representation plus the inclusion of marginalised people and communities in all projects it undertakes.

Inclusion

When working with artists, theatre technicians, designers or students, Taxi is an exceptionally empathetic and collaborative leader. It is inclusive to its core, as it experienced being not welcome because of who it is/who they are: space was made, it was not taken seriously, then taken away as quickly as it was made.

Respect

In order to prevent others from going through this experience, Taxi works extremely hard to ensure every person from any lived experience is truly welcome, feels seen, heard, valued and encouraged to thrive in their projects. Taxi takes this respectful, anti-patriarchal approach to every level of their work, from diverse audiences and participants,  students or performers of any level or ability through to specialist tech teams, executive producers, VIP artists and partner company stakeholders.

Collaboration

Having worked with influential artists, directors and choreographers for over a decade, one thing has always stood out: the quality of the work reflects the treatment of everyone involved in the process. The tone should never be “artists v technicians”, “creatives v performers”, “teachers v students”… we’re all on the same side and deserve respect when putting on great shows.

Synergy

Creatives who lead with a caring, considerate, proactive and adaptable approach tend to produce work that is expansive and inspiring, that encourages the performers and production team to buy-in and deliver their best work, whilst being fully respected and supported throughout the process. And produce shows that leave audiences energised.
