Taxi Rank teaches in drag, so you don’t get dry music classes, the courses are an entire experience! Taxi offers clarinet, saxophone and ensemble teaching, vocal coaching and performance workshops, in a relaxed, carefree, exciting environment guided by its enthusiastic, encouraging and uplifting alien drag personality.
Taxi’s area of expertise lies in teaching engaging group classes that are student centred, with lots of tailored attention and feedback, fun and diverse music and a good dose of wit and humour along the way.
Taxi’s inherently inclusive, team-work approach is sensitive to individual student needs while differentiating for the group, so that nobody feels like they’re being left behind. Taxi always encourages individual empowerment through creativity and self expression.
Taxi/Rho has clocked over 10 of your Earth years as a drag artist, over 10 years a classroom teacher, over 16 years as a freelance professional musician plus private teacher, and has been playing for nearly 30 years. It has a masters degree in music performance and a teacher/trainer qualification.
Taxi received Arts Council England funding for developing its creative practice as a performer and for devising queer performing arts workshops, which have been delivered at higher education providers such as Trinity Laban and London Contemporary Dance School.
